It’s that time of the year again!
As I write this, I am sat at my classroom desk, itching to get on a plane. The desks are here, the whiteboard is here and I am here but that’s about it! Everything has been tidied away and cleaned. The room is calm after a full year of activities, debates and a little bit of yelling!
What this all means though is summer is well and truly around the corner! And another teaching year abroad is under my belt - making it a grand total of 6.
It’s been a long one but it is finally time for some R&R.
Let’s get in to some good vibes shall we.
1. Clean Energy
I feel like I am going into the summer with new energy - and the world is matching it!
In 2025, clean electricity—like wind, solar, hydro, and nuclear—now powers over 40% of the planet.
That’s the highest share since Thomas Edison’s light bulb moment! That joke didn’t exist before him! Solar panels are soaking up sunshine, wind turbines are spinning like never before, and nuclear is making a quiet but powerful comeback. Experts say we’re on track to hit nearly half of all global electricity from clean sources by 2027.
According to this article, China is breaking record after record, and some might say rightly so. China contributes to 32% of global emissions, so it is a definite positive that it’s also one of the countries making the biggest strides when it comes to clean energy.
2. Royal Roasting
To be honest, Trump shouldn’t be anywhere near this positive outlook newsletter.
But if he is being mocked by a current monarch… Then I’m all in!
I love that after she mocks him she looks around the room to hopefully find someone who will find it funny!
Well played Queen *checks note* Maxima of *checks notes again* The Netherlands.
Well played.
3. Medical Miracle
This one is crazy.
Harvard scientists in Japan have figured out how to take dead and paralyzed cells, reset it to a blank state, turn it into what the body needs and be injected back into the body.
In this specific case, doctors inserted 2 million of these new cells into 4 paralyzed patience in a bid to help the body grow new cells which support nerve signals.
Two of these patients have shown signs of recovery. Including one who went from being completely paralyzed to being able to stand independently.
Begs the question, why aren’t these scientists in the news!?

Updates
Even though I am writing this on Friday morning from my classroom, by the time this goes out, Haley and I will have successfully flown back to England to surprise my mum for her 60th Birthday. Hopefully I can squeeze a photo in here before then!
Finally, the school year comes to an end. Enough said about that the better. Haley and I have another years contract in Turkey and we will then see what the plan is after that!
This week, as you can imagine, we said a few farewells to friends and colleagues. Also a little emotional but nice at the same time. Some are moving home, some to a new country and even one who just wants to take a break from teaching. It’s a strange thing making friends with people you know you will probably only be around for a year or two.
With upcoming trips which will cover the next two weekends, I will be posting a very short update post with pictures of our travels. Stay tuned.
